The children were sleeping in the crib as I was strapped with one of them to my back. Ha! It was all falling into place, however we were nowhere near done. To complete this task I had planned to spend a considerable amount of time and money shopping for my dream home. To keep in the realm of budgets, I took to by taking my sons to estate sales looking for of diamonds. It was a weekly tradition that we would go through garage and estate sales on Thursdays and Saturdays, purchasing a mix of new and old pieces. My next task was to spend my weekdays painting and sanding out in the driveway. My passion for furniture restoration started with an appearance like this. I continued to work on furniture long after we completed the renovation of our home. In the market in town, I rented a small space, and also sold items. Eventually, my collection grew so large that the room that I was living in was inadequate. More than 1000 people came to my home in just one weekend to buy everything on the ground floor. This is where my business Growing Days was born. The business I was running was growing and my family was also expanding. In some ways, I had found the perfect balance between being a mum as well as starting my own company. Growing Days fit perfectly. My daughter Nora became our fourth child. I adored where my business was taking me, but I felt like I needed some time off. I decided to take a break from creating vintage furniture and I slowed down my speed and stayed at home to raise the children. That was exactly what i needed. Within a couple of months, my phone started to start to. Many people called me to ask for advice about home improvement or decorating. They were mostly people that came to my house for furniture. After that, I gradually took on more clients, according to my own pace. Soon I had multiple clients, and had as a home improvement business. It is likely that I would have laughed if I had been told that the business was going to be the premise of an upcoming TV show on DIY Network. When I look back, it makes me laugh.
