Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American singer-dancer and actress. Some of her early Broadway productions included Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. In her performance as Essie In You Can't Take It With You she won the Tony Award. Annaleigh, Tony Award-winning actress and director has spent most of her professional career working with prominent directors and actors in film and on television. Ashford's next venture will be a limited-edition Hulu show called Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show debuts on November 22 and Ashford plays opposite Kumail Najiani. Ashford is in the production for Searchlight Pictures' terror thriller Dust which also features Sarah Paulson. The film will be released in the form of an Hulu Original on Disney DTC. Ashford's Broadway return will take place in the month of March 2023, when he is paired with Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same duo who produced Hamilton directed the musical. Ashford was Paula Jones most recently in Ryan Murphy's FX's American Crime Story Impeachment, which is based on the scandal that was involving Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp in the nation crisis. The two-season run she had on the CBS comedy B Positive was her first big character. She also appeared in the popular series developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, with famous actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Not a stranger to Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her performance as Essie. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the character that was originally played by Lauren of Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway credits. Ashford is a native of Denver.
